Hi, I'm Lauren, aka Lolo, the gal behind the lens at Lolo James Photography based out of Appleton, Wisconsin. I'm the mama to four beautiful kiddos and the wife to my best friend who I met in college many years ago. I love coffee, wine, ice cream, french fries and apple pie. I live for the weekends, which usually include cozy nights in with a glass of wine and sleeping in followed by lazy mornings. When I can find a spare moment to myself you will find me with a book in hand, jogging around my neighborhood, or watching reality tv, but with four kids those moments don't happen very often!
My Photography Journey
I've been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. I love it, like really, really love it. My favorite images always end up being those everyday candid moments that are so unique to your family and that you will hold close to your heart for years to come. Photography stops time for just a second and lets kids see the way that their parents look at them, a wife see how much her husband loves her, a husband see his wife's pride when he's holding their children, for a mom and a dad to see the absolute adoration their children have for them. While I too love smiles at the camera, it has always been those special moments and connections that make my heart the happiest.
My love affair with photography began when I was a teenager and only grew stronger as I grew older. I took the first of several classes to study the art of photography and the ins and outs of my camera over 15 years ago and haven't stopped since. My children have always been my favorite subjects to photograph and have allowed me to really refine my skills over the years. That eventually led to photographing friends and family for fun, while continuing to invest in education through in person workshops and online course to learn new techniques and styles from some of the top photographers in the industry.
My family is my number one priority, which is why I only take on a limited number of sessions per month. However, I would love to connect and to capture your family's memories too. I encourage you to reach out early to get a spot on my calendar!
Interesting Facts about Me
My favorite things are my family, summer weather, and babies. I LOVE babies.
I studied abroad in Germany for a year in college and had an internship outside of Dresden after college.
I love to travel and experience new cultures as a result of my Germany experience. New Zealand is the most beautiful place that I've been too.
I hate feet, unless they are baby feet.
I graduated from college with four majors. Go Badgers!
My favorite holiday is Christmas. I definitely get that from my Dad who made every Christmas extra special.
I'm star stuck and a People magazine junkie. I've met and worked with a handful of celebrities through my day job. Once while in LA for work I stumbled upon the Avengers movie premier and got to watch the stars walk the red carpet.
I've been featured on the cover of a magazine so I guess that you could say that I'm a cover girl. :)
